MASTER DRAWINGS - RICCIARDI PRIZE


The quarterly journal Master Drawings has just launched the call for the second annual Ricciardi Prize for the best new and unpublished article on a drawings topic (of any period) submitted by a young scholar under the age of 40 (deadline 15th September). Elizabeth A. Eisenberg, PhD candidate at the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University, won the first edition of the prize. She wrote on Verrocchio's influence on drawings by Leonardo and Raphael and presented her essay at the Master Drawings annual symposium on 30 January 2019 in New York. A video of her presentation will be available soon!


TALKING ABOUT VERROCCHIO... Since 9th March and until 14th July, Palazzo Strozzi in Florence is hosting Verrocchio, il Maestro di Leonardo, an exhibition curated by Francesco Caglioti and Andrea De Marchi. The exhibition has just been reviewed by Gigetta Dalli Regoli, who talks about it in this article.


DRAWINGS AT THE ACCADEMIA DI BELLE ARTI IN CARRARA

Prof. Dalli Regoli will be talking at the Accademia di Belle Arti in

Carrara (Palazzo Cybo Malaspina) on Friday 29th March, 3PM, about "Forme e funzioni del disegno tra Medioevo e Rinascimento".

The talk, introduced by Prof. Gerardo de Simone, is part of a series of events entitled I RACCONTI DELL'ARTE, which this year celebrate the 250th anniversary since the foundation of the Academy in Carrara.


CATALOGUING OPPORTUNITY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF UDINE


Two scholarships of 3 months each are available at the University of Udine for cataloguing 450 drawings by Old Master Paintings held at the Civici Musei di Storia e Arte. A Master degree is required. The deadline to apply is 25th March, follow this link for more details on the application requirements and selection process.

PHOTOGRAPHY CORNER


A 3-month specialising course entitled Valorizzazione, tutela dei diritti e archiviazione della fotografia is organised in Milano by the Università degli Studi di Milano. The list of courses can be found here. Applications can be submitted until 10th April, selections will take place in Milan, on 17th April. Read more here!


CFP: Photography & Printed Matter. The Association for Art History Summer Symposium is a two-day annual conference which will highlight current doctoral and early career research in the field of photography and other forms of printed matter. Held at the School of Art History at the University of St Andrews (3-4 June 2019) the conference aims to explore the links between process and product, as well as drawing attention to the variety of different practices and techniques often categorised under the rubric of ‘prints’. NEWS FROM OUR SATELLITES


Some days ago, AG Roma visited the exhibition "Le visioni architettoniche fiorentine e romane" at Fondazione Alda Fendi - Esperimenti in Rome, where the sculpture L'Adolescente (attributed to Michelangelo) from the Hermitage was on display. The exhibition presented 9 drawings from Casa Buonarroti, including studies for the Medici tombs. A full report of this event will soon be published on our blog! In the meantime, the AG Roma team is preparing another event which will take place at the Archivio Centrale dello Stato... stay tuned!
