It has just started! Within the 450th anniversary of Bruegel, the exhibition PRINTS IN THE AGE OF BRUEGEL, presented jointly by BOZAR Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels and the Royal Library of Belgium, paints a picture of print production in the Southern Netherlands in the age of Bruegel. The exhibition will be open until 23rd June 2019. Other Bruegel-related events are listed here.

Prints & contemporary practice

Contemporary artistic practice is involved in the 450 Bruegel events too: the landscape architect Bas Smets and his agency developed a method that meticulously dissects landscapes. By applying this method to the most iconic landscape paintings by Bruegel, they highlight the importance of trees and other vertical elements in Breugel’s compositions.

This project could be connected with another one where contemporary artists meet and take inspiration from a public collection of prints: it's the Present Archives project organised by the Association ARTECO based in Turin, recently presented during a conference at Camera. After an international call, the two chosen artists (Alessandra Messali and Ryts Monet) started working on the prints held at the Biblioteca Nazionale Universitaria in Turin.

OBJECTS CONSERVATOR, THE ATLANTA ART CONSERVATION CENTER. The Atlanta Art Conservation Center, a non-profit regional laboratory serving over 12 member museums in the south, invites applications from qualified conservators for the full-time position of Objects Conservator. A graduate degree in objects conservation is required, at least 2 years of post-graduate conservation experience and/or regional lab experience is preferred. The Tate Gallery is looking for an enthusiastic, motivated Conservation Technician (permanent) to join their Paper and Photographs Conservation team, to work on Tate’s historic, modern and contemporary collection and to support Tate’s Exhibitions & Displays, Loans out and Acquisitions Programme. - On March 14th, 6.30PM, vernissage of the exhibition Claire Nicole. Instants gravés at the Pavillon de l'estampe du Musée Jenisch Vevey. A guided visit with the artist and with Camille Jaquier, conservatrice adjointe Estampes, is scheduled on March 21st at 6.30PM.

- On March 20th 2019 at 4PM at the Arenthuis in Bruges there will be the presentation of the recently published scholarly catalogue European Old Master Drawings from the Bruges Print Room (Lannoo, 2019) edited by Virginie D’haene and a private visit to the accompanying exhibition The key to all arts.
